A program built around how small businesses actually hire.

Most internship programs were designed for large companies with HR teams. VFC's was built for founders and operators who are hiring and managing at the same time.

Interns who show up ready

Interns in VFC's program complete entrepreneurial and work-readiness training, covering coachability, productivity, and how to operate in a startup environment. They keep developing throughout their time with you.

Your timeline, not a university's

Forget rigid semester start dates. VFC supports part-time and full-time internships with flexible start windows across three cohorts per year: Summer, Fall, and Winter. Remote and hybrid placements are fully supported.

100+ schools, every discipline

VFC interns come from 100+ universities and colleges in urban and rural centres nationwide, studying every discipline. If you're looking for a software developer, a marketing hire, a finance or ops analyst, or something else entirely, the candidate pool is broad.

Is this a fit for your business?

To meet the conditions of our funding, businesses and internships must meet the following criteria:

Please reach out to internemployers@ventureforcanada.ca if you have any questions.
Stacking Funding
  • You can stack VFC funding with provincial, municipal, or private funding sources, which means your net cost could be even lower.
  • The one restriction: VFC funding can't be combined with other federal programs like Canada Summer Jobs or Young Canada Works.as this program is funded by ESDC's Student Work Placement Program (through the Government of Canada).
  • Stacking funding does not affect the maximum subsidy you can receive from VFC, however, the total funding received cannot exceed 100% of the student's salary for the term.
  • You do not need to report to us if you receive funding other than ours, although questions about this matter are always welcome!
If Your Intern Doesn't Work Out

If something isn't working, reach out to internemployers@ventureforcanada.ca. We're involved throughout the placement, not just at the start. Most issues are easier to sort out early, and we'd rather hear from you than have a placement fall apart quietly.
